I use a drop of light machine oil on the pivots. There's no metal sleeve; the 
canvas in the phenolic tends to soak up oil and lets it wick out over time, 
making a very good self-lubricating system. Oil-soaked phenolic looks 
darker than phenolic that has had all the oil washed out by some sort of 
solvent.
