The thermo switch and cold start valve are On or Off (binary) devices, plus they only do
something while the starter is turning the engine, so they have no effect once the engine is
running.
The AAR and both temp sensors are all analog, so their effects vary smoothly over a rather
wide temperature range. In the case of the AAR, it's supposed to be fully closed by the time
the engine oil reaches 122 F and fully open somewhere between zero and 32 F. So by 85 F it
should be well into throttling down. This probably explains why your engine no longer lopes
now.
