The potmetal on these is warping, may need a reaming out to correct for
that.

Subject: [T3] 73 auto trans type 3 ARR ?

I have been having issues. It never seems to close . A while back I
disconnected the plug since it shares the pump reply under the dash , then
applied 12 volts to the AAR and it did close in the amount of time it
should. But driving it no matter how far it's been in the mid 60's here .
When I park and go to shut it down the RPM climbs to 1500 RPM . When I first
start it it's at 1000 RPM then it depends maybe 5 minutes to 20 and the RPM
picks up to 1500 .

I would think engine heat alone would cause it to close. I did take the
entire thing apart 2 years ago and it worked fine but only did so until 6
months ago.

I do have a manual trans one that Tram cleaned and the bracket for the
spring since it's different than the auto electric AAR . I might try that ,
hoping at least the oil temp will close it even if it takes longer , it's
better than living with this. What I don't know is if I remove the electric
unit will crap fall into the oil? I can clean the entire thing off at the
top to minimise this and do have the gasket .

 Any thoughts or help ?

William
