Remember the 2002 invasion and Brian took us all into Northern CA for the
redwoods cruise and when we stopped to get gas it was over $5/gal and I had
My credit card declined before I called them to basically say that yes, I
was indeed buying gas for over $5/gal!

Here in Huntsville Alabama, it's averaging $4.19 per gallon currently. We
purchased our TDI in 2004 in Dallas Texas slightly before the price changed
to be more than unleaded fuel was but only slightly.

As for the price question, it's one that has always boggled me. Europe has
had low sulfur diesel long before the U.S. and honestly, I can't see it
being of higher quality now compared to then to justify the higher than
gasoline price. I also understand that in some places around the world they
are "Climate Change" Taxing fuel and Diesel even more so.

Living in Arizona most of my life we always heard that fuel is very heavily
taxed in California from what friends and family from there would tell us
which is all I can go by.

Using Gasbuddy.com, I see HUGE prices on our west coast. I'd like to hear
what other people out there are actually paying. And is there an explanation
for why gas prices are especially high in California?

Jill and I drive all the way across the state today on a birding adventure.
We saw regular gas prices from $3.039 to about $3.499. Diesel was as high
as $4.599 and that was a station selling regular gasoline for $3.199 per
gallon
.a whopping $1.40 more per gallon. Most places were between 70-80
cents more per gallon for Diesel over regular gasoline.

I don’t have a diesel vehicle, so I have never really paid much attention,
but it was interesting to see the differences due to this thread.
