[T3] 2024 Invasion Trip Report

Day 4 – Saturday June 21st

Main Invasion Day!  Quick breakfast at the Hot Biscuit Diner and then I was down to Bicentennial Park in the heart of Ticonderoga to start setting up.  There had been some rain overnight so the grass was very wet, but the park was the perfect setting for an Invasion.   We had use of the pavilion for setting up the silent auction stuff, although some table in it would have been handy. <G>. The pavilion also proved handy when the rains came later in the afternoon.  The waterfall and the covered bridge provided great backdrops for photos all day.

We had 23 Type 3s show up with all 4 body styles represented.

Keith Park did his Type 3 Front End Maintenance and Adjustment Tech Session in the morning.  Lots of great info on how the Type 3 Beam is designed and functions, how to maintain it, and how to adjust the ride height through re-indexing the splines on the torsion bars.  Hopefully folks learned a thing or two.

Right after Keith finished up, the rains came for a couple of hours.  The timing was fine since folks were dispersing a bit to find lunch in town.  It never rained really hard , but was study.  This is the first time that I recall ever having rain during the Saturday of the Invasion weekend.

Everyone made it back from lunch as the rains stopped in the early afternoon.  That was the last of the rain for the day.  It dried up enough that I was able to do a tech session on the electrically driven air conditioning that I installed in Jill’s Type 34 Ghia.  Dave Pallo also brought along a 3-D printed working model of a 4 speed manual transmission and gave a short tech talk on just what goes on inside our transaxles when we are rowing through the gears.  Very cool demo….even if it was actually a Chevy gearbox. LOL

I think I got them all label correctly.  Please let me know if I mixed any of them up.
