Thanks Bill
I think I'll try the spline rotation idea first.I thought I saw a rear disc brake kit with emergency brake on ISP but they don't have it now.If you have another source let me knowI appreciate the help!

To my knowledge there are only a few true type 3 front ends that have been
narrowed and they were a lot of work to shorten the cross members and the
torsion bars. One I know modified the trailing arms to narrow the front
end rather than playing with the cross member and torsion rods. You really
have to know what you are doing to do either. Most of the narrowed ones
are switched to Type ! front ends and the mounting to the chassis
modified. Buying Type I narrowed and lowered are available from a number
of sources. Makes the front end stiffer than keeping the Type 3. Lowering
the Type 3 is fairly easy by playing with the splines on the arms. Moving
the arms up a spline or 2 lowers the front but not too much. I recommend
you talk to ISP West before you attempt this.
There are rear disk brake kits that you can buy that are set up for
emergency brakes but I believe keeping the rear drums is better and a lot
cheaper. Most of the braking is done by the fronts so you don't get that
much better braking going to rear disks. Some people have gone to different
front disks that are better than VWs but again, not cheap. Again, call ISP
West about going to rear disks.
