I'd love to know what the dimensions of the rubber bushing are in there. I 
know that the BMW R69S had 3 replaceable Viton pieces, a sleeve and two 
washers, in a similar location. Viton was used because it is a high hysteresis 
rubber: It absorbs vibrational energy. So the rubber in the Type 3 fan hub 
must provide the same function, which is that of a vibration damper.

Anyone got a beat up fan that they can take apart, or send to me for a post 
mortem? Too bad ours are riveted together.
