That is beautiful country. It will become unbearably cold soon enough.

Turns out that I'm also "On the Road." I had to prove to myself and my
daughter that I'm still capable of long drives by myself, so I accepted an
invitation to visit some friends who live near the upper west coast of
Michigan. Turns out that they have come down with sore throats, so I'm
currently in a motel in Traverse City, MI.

Let me know if there are any other Type 3ers in this area. I'll be here for 2-3
days.

So far, so good. I finally bought a smart phone and, with the help of a lot of
good friends and family, I'm learning my way thru my "beginner's license."

I came the long way, up to the U.P. and over the top and down the Macinac
Bridge. I'll go back the same way in a few days. I've been here once before,
but that was with my parents, probably in 1958, just after the bridge was
finished in late 1957. The view from the top of the span is quite impressive.
