 Something to keep in mind is that "flex" joint, or "rag joint" is also an insulator. For a while there have been some that are being marketed that aren't electrically insulated, and they actually cause the horn to "beep". Trying to find ones that don't cause the horn to go off was a problem a couple of years ago, and still might be. Just thought I'd throw that out there to complicate things. ;-)
