Ahh, I missed that important part of the thread, gotta stop skimming to
much!

He's doing an electric car conversion.


Gee, Keith, that doesn't make any sense. Those thermostats don't do 
anything that would limit heated air. They just meter in cool air, 
increasing the total airflow, but at a reduced temp. If you just 
remove the thermostats, you'll either get lots of cool air (if you 
have the cool air tubes installed) or you'll dump all your heated air 
outside the car (if the cool air tubes have been removed.)

The tubes were removed, as were the elbows and the top holes were sealed in
the airbox, so the heated air goes right into the car and doesn't mix with
any cool air.  With the Bus heaterboxes on it there was an ungodly amount of
heat but of course you could regulate its flow if not its temperature.  When
I converted back it was still noticeably warmer than it was in the stock
configuration.
