Boy, I wish it was. I put some gas in the tank before all this happened
and found it leaking this afternoon. About 10 years ago, it was leaking
and I treated it with POR15. Apparently, it is NOT a permanent fix. I
now have to figure out how to get all the (apparently useless) POR15
out and some other treatment back in before I can drive it. At $3.65 per
gallon for gas, a pin hole can bankrupt you!

Ten years on a treated tank isn't too bad. Most times the treatment usually
comes loose from the tank and clogges the entire fuel system. BTDT. Russ
used to NOT recommend treating the fuel tanks, due to the "sealer" plugging
vent lines and passages inside the fuel tank. I'd personally look for a
tank from out west to use. You can always clean the "new" tank, if it's
needed. Late tanks are fairly easy to find in the Samba classifieds, and Jim
offers a kit to keep water from entering the tank, and keeping "pin holes" from
happening.
