[T3] Wolf, translated into German...

The Squareback is called a Variant by VW, the Notchback is a Stufenheck and
the Fastback is a Fliesheck. The general opinion is that in the USA, the
Valiant was too close to Variant for that name to be used. In the UK,
Variant is often (incorrectly) used for any Type 3, thus some people say
Variant Fastback!

Back from Germany, but pretty tired. Great event, with about 120 Type 3s,
mostly in a beautiful state.

Re Wolfsburg, Germany....the mecca of VW...

Interesting that just about the only animal name that's the same in English
and German is "wolf ".
"Adolf", also interestingly, means "noble wolf".
"Bug", on the other hand, is  "Insekt"
 And "Beetle" is  Käfer".

"Squareback" and "Hatchback" are probably some idioms that only a traveler
will tell us about.   Please do.
