An SR69X is a rebuilt starter for a 76-80 Rabbit, Jetta, or Scirocco. 
I looked at the manuals for those cars and was surprised to see that, 
yes, it looks quite a bit like ours, but you can be sure that if they 
would actually interchange Bosch would have lumped them together with 
a single rebuild designation.

There are many ways in which they could be slightly different, 
mounting bolt pattern, bolt size, pinion gear size, pinion gear 
insertion distance, and direction of rotation are just a few of the 
possibilities.

Can't you find someone who might be willing to just look at your 
brushes and possibly replace them? Almost every town has someone who 
can do this work.
