Yes, and that is why before I cut the cable I used a Baggie tie to hold
it together, but in the salt air it failed; think it be much better
with stainless jeweler's wire.

It was in the housing with all assembled when it jammed.  I then

pulled just the steering wheel and then realized the guts were not

right.  I then pulled it out, and found the ball in the housing.

I am sorry you feel embarrassed, but I thought a couple weeks was enough
time for a response: should I have waited longer and if so, how long?

I do not expect you to fix something that is not your fault, thus the
reason I did not want to say much and just send it back for evaluation
(remember the doctor joke when you rebuilt the distributor? ;) ).  It has
not worked right from about the beginning, but did not know the high beam
did not require pulling hard to activate.  With the replacement, I
realized it only took a light finger touch to activate unlike the rebuilt
switch.  Also, consider it has gone at most a thousand miles since then
(been having nothing but trouble).

I know how hard you worked at it, and all the hours required, and so I did
not mind paying the price.  I have had a non-rebuilt unit come apart, and
after a tedious hour or so, got the ball back in were it should be, then
got it snapped back together; been a while so do not remember all the
details.  But man, after that, I knew why you worked so hard to create a
user's manual; believe it is in the Bentley's binder pocket as I have seen
it around. ;)

In short, please send me your address again, and I will get it off to you
A.S.A.P. with a thank you included.

Take care and thank you,
Adriel
