Ive always found the cal-look seals to be a crapshoot, some fit, some don't,
most will stretch on if you pull hard enough but those crack around the
corners in a few weeks. The older ones seemed to have better rubber but im
not sure how much variation there is in rubber now.

Even the stock seals will roll in on the corners though, that's where the
High-temp RTV takes over.

Subject: [T3] rear quarter fixed window seals (cal-look) . help!

72 Fastback ... Car is painted, new headliner installed, and the front and
rear window glass is in (thanks to Russ' auction); however, I cannot get the
new rear quarter window seals to fit correctly, so I took it to my local air
cooled specialist (and owns 3 Type 3s), and he was not able to get the first
set in either. Seems as if the seals are made for slightly smaller windows.
We also brought in the local VW glass guy to help, but no luck.

The first set was from West Coast Metric; when I called and explained, they
sent a second set out immediately and I got them fast ... and have the same
problem with these. I then ordered a third set (this time, from ISP, as
they has a different part number) ... same thing ... the glass won't fit.

Are we doing something wrong, or are there seals/windows of different sized
for Fastbacks?

Thanks,
