Subject: [T3] rear quarter fixed window seals (cal-look) . help!

72 Fastback ... Car is painted, new headliner installed, and the front and
rear window glass is in (thanks to Russ' auction); however, I cannot get the
new rear quarter window seals to fit correctly, so I took it to my local air
cooled specialist (and owns 3 Type 3s), and he was not able to get the first
set in either. Seems as if the seals are made for slightly smaller windows.
We also brought in the local VW glass guy to help, but no luck.

The first set was from West Coast Metric; when I called and explained, they
sent a second set out immediately and I got them fast ... and have the same
problem with these. I then ordered a third set (this time, from ISP, as
they has a different part number) ... same thing ... the glass won't fit.

Are we doing something wrong, or are there seals/windows of different sized
for Fastbacks?

Thanks,

Vern we just put the glass in our 72 FB about a month ago and we had to
fight to keep the seals on the quarter glass while putting them in. I had
to get 2 or 3 students hold the seal and glass in place while I was in the
inside pulling the wire to keep the seal on while doing this. We used Gojo
for lube as Russ suggested. It took 2 or 3 tries doing this way before we
were successful. It's a pain in the butt but we got it done.
