  BTW, it will probably get worse; mine got to the point where I had  
to insert a pry bar into the hinge and forcefully pry the hinge apart  
while pulling the hatch down to get it to work at all. An angry phone  
call from my wife telling me she had to drive home from the grocery  
store with the rear hatch stuck open is what finally prompted me to  
replace the hinge.
