Mine has also been generous - it had to throw off a plug lead to make me
give it a bit of attention in the car-park at Calais, but it had got us
there from Wolfsburg despite a reduced points gap and poorly adjusted carbs,
I'm ashamed to say.

I agree that the torque spec on SPs is way too high for our short threads.
The only time I ever tried to go with them, 2 out of 4 SP holes stripped
before I was done. Now I go until I feel the gasket touch down, then turn a
bit more to feel it crush just a bit.

The most important thing is to get the plug started straight. I always do
this by hand, with no extra leverage.
