It's really not a feature, at least with the D-Jet. It's just that above
some speed the injectors can't keep up any more. I assume the L- Jet systems
are the same, but the CIS (K-Jet) won't, because those injectors don't have
to open and close with each engine cycle.

OK that make sense on the D system.  On Digifant II it is different.  I
worked turning wrenches at a VW dealer for about 6 months around 87-88(I was
in my early 20s and didn't keep any job long back then LOL).  According to
the info VW gave to its technicians then Digifant controls both fuel and
ignition and if memory serves me correct the ECU would cut back the ignition
when it got to 7200 RPM. But I could be wrong that was a few years ago.
