[T3] Generator ... Again

Adney, good point about a good mechanic doing it. Why would it have to be replaced?

Are you saying the black plastic with the terminals can be changed? If so, why then would someone change the wiring instead of the former?

The Squareback is on its forth or fifth engine. First one went around 50,000 miles. So, wonder if that have something to do with it.

Thank you,
Adriel

The ones you found have one pair of crimp wings for the conductor and
one more for the insulation. I think that's what Adriel was looking
for. Yes, you can find them if you look hard enough.

The one you showed was for a 3/16" tab, which VW didn't use, but
Mouser shows others, including the very common 1/4" size. The
generator output required a 3/8" quick connect, which is the hard one
to find. I don't see that size, but it may be there.

Nevertheless, VW also supplied repair parts, and it looks like the
connector needed here would have been a 111 971 962. While makeshift
repairs seemed to be the rule, it's always possible to run into a
conscientious mechanic who has the right crimper.
