[T3] I miss my Aircooleds in the winter!

Well, the question really is, HOW MUCH is really that thin? I stuck a
picture up on the Samba. I have a car I can borrow for the warm days but it
doesn't have snows so its no good in the snow.

It's a pickum, A2 8v's aren't as plentiful as they once were but if I got
one I could fix that blow exhaust manifold gasket that would never otherwise
get done, the Original clutch could get changed and well,, after nearly 30
years there's probably some other rubber stuff on there that needs
attention. But if I fix the block it would sure save A LOT of work, this
car only sees 3-4Kmi a year in the winter.

At least when I open the door on this car it doesn't dump all the snow on
the drivers seat like the new ones do!

If your block is that thin - any repairs as mentioned are going to be
temporary at best. Real temporary, and you know that at the end of winter;
you are still not going to drive your type 3's until the spring has washed
away the salt off the roads, so you will really be needing that radiator cap
on several months from now!

My advice - go to Craigslist and pick up a cheap car to get you through the
winter and into spring. That way you can drive where you want to go without
worries. You can even park at the tight front spot at the grocery store ;-)
Then come spring - sell the car (there's always a demand for cheap cars) and
properly fix your VW... which sounds like another block is in order.
