[T3] Gel batteries

My own personal experience for the past 13 years. Optima batteries have given me good service. I only use them in more modern alternator vehicles. Have four in service. Got twelve years out of my earliest one. These vehicles charge at a higher output.
Odyssey batteries in my motorcycles.
I don't now if the VW puts out enough power to properly charge either. My gut thinks not. That would lead to a premature battery failure.
With air cooled VW's I stick to conventional lead acid.
Just my opinion.
