The seat in my 01 Ford Crown Vic hurts my back if I drive it more than an
hour but that's because some of the cushion is worn out from 200K miles and
being 13 years. Plus my dad drove it for the first 3 years of its life and
he is 6'4 and 260lb so he was rough on it(I'm nowhere near that tall). So
I'm kind of sensitive to that. I can drive my son's old 88 Golf or my
wife's
2010 Toyota Corolla and I'm fine. I think if I can put some more cushion
in
the lower back part I will be fine.

My 97 S-10 is like that (ask Gary), in that it has a set of butt cheek
imprints from a PO that wore into the seat, causing it to take a set. I do
know what you're meaning though, as some seats work great, and others don't
regardless of the miles on them.

You might just want to look for one of those half moon lumbar supports
that can be removed, rather than adding padding. That way you can take it out,
or put it in place as you need it. The stock seats really are good though,
I just don't like vinyl in the summer. ;-)
