They also make little Lumbar pieces that have a strap that goes around the
back of the seat and holds a little piece in place to give you more support.
Several options are available that don't require you getting into the
uhpolstery again.

The seat in my 01 Ford Crown Vic hurts my back if I drive it more than an
hour but that's because some of the cushion is worn out from 200K miles and
being 13 years. Plus my dad drove it for the first 3 years of its life and
he is 6'4 and 260lb so he was rough on it(I'm nowhere near that tall). So
I'm kind of sensitive to that. I can drive my son's old 88 Golf or my wife's
2010 Toyota Corolla and I'm fine.  I think if I can put some more cushion in
the lower back part I will be fine.
