[T3] Throttle Valve Switch

My '72 had over 100K miles, and that responded to a clean, but back then I
didn't know much of what to expect anyway.

Have a good drive round anyway. I like the idea of a 'date night'. Have to
get the old Beetle on the road for that, and be back home in bed by 10pm!
My first date with Anne we went to a college show, back to my place for
records, drove out to the freeway services, walked across the new bridge to
Wales and back, then drove back to my place, had breakfast, went to her
church service, delivered her back to her place, then went back to mine and
slept for most of the day! It didn't put her off - she's so tolerant,
usually!

Have you dismantled the throttle valve switch? It may simply need dirt
cleaning off the tracks. More likely the tracks are worn, but it can't hurt
to take a look.

You may be right Dave. The FI system in this car came out of the rusty 72
SB we got for parts. That car sat out in the woods for 30 years. Jim can
tell you how bad the distributor was in it because it was beyond his
repairing it. The steering wheel was chewed down to the metal in places by
squirrels, gophers, raccoons, or some kind of animal. So it's possible the
sensor could have trash or corrosion inside it. The car only has 77K miles
on it when the lady who drove it thrown a rod in 1980 due to lack of oil.
Can they wear out with that few of miles?

Dennis
