BTW, why do you move the pump to the center of the beam? Does this
help the hose routing in some way?

I and several others who have used the E2000 pump have found that moving
the pump to the center of the beam allows for nice lazy hose bends. This is
mostly because of the length of the pump, since it's an inline pump (about
6 to 8 inches long).
If you try to locate the pump in the stock location, you end up with a
sharp bend (almost pinching the hose closed) on the pump's inlet. The nice
thing about the Airtex version of that pump, is that it has a sleeve around
the outer shell, that fits almost like it was made for the stock t-3 FI pump
mount.
