Yesterday I decided to see why the drivers window had been giving me problems for a while now. In order to lower it I had to go down a bit then up a bit then it would go down. When I closed it just as it reached the top I would hear a snap . I have spare regulators from a 72 as well as the glass . I noticed a few of the teeth were almost gone in the up position so I cleaned the left from the 72 and noticed two things . 1 the 72 regulators have clock springs and the 73 does not and for some odd reason with the 72 regulator in place it takes 3 full crank turns from full down to full up where the Right side takes 3 ½ turns and I didn’t notice at first yet counting the teeth on the 72 right side there is the same amount unless to small gear is different . Also it’s sort of dark in my garage and the 73’s doors have a impact bar the length of the door that sticks out about 2” . So in the process of removing the glass I scratched the hell out of the glass probably from it rubbing on that bar , I should have placed some sort of tape over that impact bar which was stupid on my part. The 72 glass has a few small scratches yet nothing like I produced. On that clip that rides in the window that fits the regulator it seems it should fit one way because of the shape of the window lift guide . Bentley didn’t say yet looking at it is seems the curved part of that clip should face up since it seems to go in easier this way and there is a groove in the top part of that slide track and just a curve in the bottom. Does it matter?

I need to take the entire thing apart again because the scratches bother me , I keep thinking they might weaken the glass some how as I am able to catch my nails in them and there are quite a few at the top that are about 4 to 5 inches long and vertical and all are close to the rear of the window. So about ¼ of the glass has these scratches.
