How about checking the voltage drop across the fuel pump relay while the 
engine is running? That's the same part as used for the main power relay 
and if it had also developed a problem, that would reduce the power to the 
pump, possibly leading to low fuel pressure and lean running.

The PCV valve is easy to remove and clean, but they very seldom get so 
gunked up that it's a problem. You'll never need a new one.
