Yes, absolutely, and it's only fair to point out that I might never have made it 
to this conclusion if it were not for the fuel pressure regulator that Keith sent 
me for a post mortem, after it started delivering fuel at higher and higher 
pressure. That was more than 20 years ago, and I found nothing obviously 
wrong with it when I cut it open.

It wasn't until years later that I realized that dependable pressure regulation 
depended on one side of that diaphram having a good vent to atmosphere. 
The adjusting screw threads were enough when those parts were new, but 
rust eventually clogs them up.

This could be an even bigger problem if you drive up or down large altitude 
changes.

In my case, the problem was excessive richness, but that wasn't immediately 
clear from the symptoms.
