"How was the fit of the oil pickup in the case?"
Max, I did not check the pick up tube at the pump side because this is a new case. I did braze a tube on the sump side since I'm using a 1.5 qt. external sump. I will definitely check this, for sure, though.
"I'm not familiar with Silverline bearings. Tell me about them.
What is the coating that you wipe off?"
Jim, the Silverline are very common here (Mexico product); they come with a steel center main bearing. Others I have bought (Kolbenschmidt, Mahle) are aluminum and feel too light to me.
As far as the coating, it seems to be just to protect them in the box. At least, that's what some have said to me. I gently wipe it off with a clean micro cloth until they have a little shine. It comes off vary easily. It's a dull gray color.
What brand(s) do you use?
"In your first 10 minutes at 2500 rpm, since you say you have an actual oil
pressure gauge, what was the oil pressure?"
Between 40-50 lbs on my dash gauge the few times I glanced at it. I used a remote starter and just held the throttle at the engine. I use a tee at the oil cooler and run the idiot light separate from the gauge. I ran it for a minute before start up to get it primed.
Jaime.
