I THINK your '67 originally came with a filter built into the fuel
pump. VW never used an inline filter anywhere with the carbed
engines.

The gas tank is high enough that it will supply sufficient gas to the
carbs, even if the stock fuel pump is bypassed, as long as the tank
is half full or more. So you might want to see if you have the same
problem on a full tank. If you do, your problem is not vapor lock.

It may be that all the gas in your carbs boils off in the heat soak
after shutdown. If that's the case, you should check to make sure all
your cooling parts are in good condition and that the bakelite
insulators are in place between the carbs and the intake manifolds.

If you still have the problem, you can cure it by bypassing the stock
fuel pump and adding an electric pump under the gas tank. If you do
that, you must also add a crash safety switch. There's a common Ford
switch available from NAPA dealers for a very reasonable price.
Someone else here should be able to chime in and give you the part
number.
