Thanks to all for advice!!! I'll be working on Goldie this weekend to get
to the bottom of the clicking/banging issue.

I have a 36mm socket welded to a piece of flat bar stock that's 3 foot
long. I just stand on the end of it, and bounce a couple of times to either
break the nut loose, or tighten it. It's a left over tool from my beetle
days. ;-)
