[T3] Dist trigger points?

I was able to get the drive dog pins out of both the AJ and AG, the AJ was
much more difficult and its drive dog has some dings on both the two ears
or whatever they are called. One the AG it came out easy and the dog looks
great. Now all I need to do is see which parts make the best unit.

I did notice the notch for the vacuum can is larger on the AJ. Yet the
single can from the AH and AG fit the hole spacing perfectly.

Also the advance plate that came on the AH has the ball with the spring
steel cover that's not screwed on , it slips on with a built in clip part
of the spring steel piece. I could not use that plate with the pertronix
because the ground braid is short , it works fine with points. The AG has
the screw type.

Now I know why when I had the AJ in my car why it suddenly began to ping.
Once I took it apart in the trigger cam recess it had a steel shim then a
fiber washer then another steel shim . I imagine you need a steel shim to
ride on the upper bushing. Now on the base where the drive dog is there was
only an old broken fiber washer and no steel shims, from what I recall on
the dist bottom should be a fiber washer first then enough steel shims to
get the end play right. As for the pinging, one fiber washer under one
weight pivot was gone and the weight was dragging. Some breakdowns I see
show an E clip on top of each weight , all three of mine use the springs to
secure the weights. I have no idea if this is what they did in later
years.

The AG was the same way in the trigger cam recess. It also is missing one
fiber washer under one weight and had only one broken fiber on the body
above the dog and no steel shims.

Let me know how the lower end above the dog is supposed to be. I read
fiber first then steel shims. I'm pretty sure that's how I did the AH when
I rebuilt it in 2009.
